Margate, Florida – October 19, 2011 – The Fellowship Living Facility announced today its first annual Golf Tournament raised more than $2,600 to benefit The Kiwanis Club of Margate/Coconut Creek. The event drew 40 Golfers to the Oriole Golf Club in Margate on Saturday, October 16th.

The title sponsor for the tournament was Ocean Breeze Recovery, a local private addiction treatment program dedicated to empowering individuals to recover from the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction.

“We are grateful for any opportunity to support our community,” said Peter Cogan, C.E.O. of Ocean Breeze Recovery. “The Kiwanis Club serves our children and we’re honored to help them in any way we can.”

The tournament was a scramble format with special contests and prizes including closest to the pin and longest drive. Golfers participated with a great sense of enthusiasm and satisfaction knowing they were supporting such an impactful charitable organization.

“We are encouraged to see this very generous response to this first annual fundraiser,” said Rick Riccardi, founder of Fellowship Living.

In addition to Ocean Breeze Recovery, the Kiwanis benefited from the kind donations of 11 local community businesses.

Dennis Cantly, president of the Kiwanis Margate/Coconut Club, thanked all the sponsors, players and volunteers for their contribution in making the event a success. “The Kiwanis Club is focused on serving the children of our community. We greatly appreciate your generous support in helping us accomplish our goals, thank you.”

The proceeds from the event will be used to fund various local children’s programs including Scholarships, Shop with a “Cop” Christmas, and Daycare Weekly Brown Bag.

The winning team included Jack Kuhn, Steve Kuhn, Jody Goldblatt and Norman Todd with a score of 57. Other golfers enjoying the beautiful weather and supporting the cause included David Platz, Lt. Governor of Kiwanis District 23 and John Francis, president of Margate Chamber of Commerce.
